Terms of Service

1. What We Provide

LabelDex is a platform that connects independent music artists with record labels. It includes:

• A searchable label directory
• Track uploads and artist / label profiles
• A shared demo pool and direct submission track links for sending tracks to labels
• In-app messaging between artists and labels
• Optional paid features (Pro plan)

2. Who Can Use LabelDex

You must be at least 16 years old to use LabelDex. If you are under 18, you may use LabelDex only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, and that parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

You also agree to:

• Provide accurate, real information
• Keep your login credentials secure — you're responsible for activity on your account
• Not abuse, scrape, overload, or exploit the service

Accounts are either an artist or a label account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Plans and Billing

• The Free plan includes one demo-pool submission and three direct submissions per calendar month. The Pro plan removes the submission limits. Current plan pricing is shown at signup.
• Paid plans are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime through the billing portal in your settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are not guaranteed unless required by law. We may issue refunds at our sole discretion.
• We may change pricing or plan features; we'll give notice of material changes.

4. Your Content and Uploads

You retain ownership of the tracks, images, text, and other content you upload. By uploading or posting content, you:

• Confirm you own it or have all rights necessary to upload it and to grant the license below
• Grant LabelDex a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, stream, and process that content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the platform, including making your tracks available to labels through your submissions and the demo pool. This license does not include the right to use your music for LabelDex marketing; if we ever want that, we'll ask you separately.
• Are solely responsible for what you upload — no infringing material, hate, harassment, spam, or unlawful content

We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law, and may remove tracks or data after a period of inactivity (for example, demo-pool submissions expire automatically).

5. Who Sees Your Tracks

Your unreleased music is sensitive, so visibility is deliberately narrow. Tracks you upload are visible to you and to labels on LabelDex: the labels you submit to directly, and, for demo-pool submissions, the labels using the pool. Other artist members cannot browse or listen to your tracks.

Two surfaces are broader, by design:

• Your artist profile page can be publicly viewable and indexed by search engines. It may display your artist name, photo, location, bio, genres, social links, and self-reported follower counts.
• A submission track link can be opened by anyone who has the link (it is unlisted, not search-indexed). It displays your track and profile details.

Don't put anything private or confidential in fields that power these public surfaces.

6. Deleting Your Account

You can stop using LabelDex at any time and request account deletion (see the Privacy Policy). When you delete your account, your hosting and profiles are removed. Submission track links that labels already received keep working until their natural expiry, then stop.

7. Submissions to Labels

We don't guarantee that:

• A label will listen to, respond to, or sign your track
• Every label listing or piece of profile data is accurate
• The service will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted

LabelDex is a venue for discovery and communication only. Any agreement, deal, or contract between an artist and a label is solely between those parties — LabelDex is not a party to it, does not represent either side, and is not responsible for its terms or outcome.

8. Rules for Labels

• Producer information is for evaluation only. Labels may use the tracks, profiles, and contact information they see on LabelDex only to consider that artist's submission. No adding artists to marketing lists, no selling or sharing their data, no bulk outreach.
• No paid add-ons attached to releasing music. Labels may not sell or require extra services alongside releasing an artist's track. This includes pay-to-release arrangements and bundled playlist placement, promo, or distribution packages attached to a signing or release. Separately offered services are fine: a label may release music for free and offer additional paid services, as long as releasing music itself is genuinely free and artists who decline those services receive equal treatment. Labels that charge for releases or bundle paid services into a signing may be removed from the directory.
• Directory listings can be removed on request. A label that wants its listing removed from our directory can ask, and we'll honor it.
• Referral rewards are for genuine labels. A referral bonus qualifies only when the referred account is a legitimate record label that completes at least one action in the demo pool. LabelDex may withhold or reverse referral payouts for accounts created solely to trigger referral bonuses or for labels we reasonably determine are not genuine.

9. Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on LabelDex infringes your copyright, send written notice to ethan@labeldex.com identifying the work, the material you believe infringes it, and how to reach you, with a statement of good-faith belief and of the accuracy of the complaint.

• We remove or disable access to validly complained-about content within 48 hours.
• The uploader can send a counter-notice. If the complainant doesn't file a court action within 10 business days of a valid counter-notice, the content is restored.
• Repeat infringers lose their accounts: we warn after a first valid complaint and terminate after three.
• Knowingly filing a false complaint may make you liable for damages, including costs.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity, audience, or rights
• Upload content you don't have the rights to
• Harass, spam, or abuse other users
• Scrape, copy, or resell the label directory or other platform data
• Attempt to break, probe, or circumvent platform security or access controls

11. Text Messages

LabelDex may send optional text messages about label listens, shortlist and pass decisions, and account alerts. Texting is strictly opt-in through its own consent checkbox and is never bundled with accepting these Terms. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to end the texts at any time.

12. Third-Party Services

LabelDex relies on third parties including Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage), Stripe (payments), PostHog (analytics), and Twilio (text messages). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' terms and policies. We aren't responsible for third-party services.

13. AI-Assisted Features

We may add automated or AI-assisted features (for example, genre matching, feedback, or analytics tools). Any such output is informational only, may be inaccurate, and is not professional, legal, financial, or career advice. You are responsible for your own decisions.

14. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, LabelDex is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold LabelDex harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the platform, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.

16. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using LabelDex at any time and request account deletion (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with notice where practical.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll notify you in the app and by email, and the updated Terms take effect 14 days after that notice. If you keep using LabelDex after the effective date, you accept the updated Terms.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Kansas.
